LACCIR participation in the Second Meeting of Ministers and High
Authorities on Science and Technology, held in Mexico City on October 27 and 28,
hosted by the Government of Mexico through the National Council of Science and
Technology (CONACYT). The OAS Department of Science, Technology and
Innovation serves as Technical Secretariat and provides needed support for the
meeting’s organization and success.
This meeting focused on Science,
Technology, Engineering and Innovation for Prosperity.

Visits to Mexican
Universities
On October
29th to 31st 2008,
LACCIR visited Universidad
de las Américas in Puebla, Instituto
Politécnico Nacional in Ciudad de México, and Tecnológico de Monterrey in
Monterrey.
During this visits researchers from different Computer
Science and ICT research centers showed their current projects and research
areas, and LACCIR delegation had kind meetings with Universities high
authorities.

LACCIR Virtual Institute’s Executive Director Dr.
Ignacio Casas, and Board Director Dr. Sergio Ochoa presented the initiative and
its progress at the LATAM Day of the 2008 Microsoft Research Faculty summit (see agenda).

second ABC Meeting and participate in the MSR LATAM Academic Summit 2008, for
more information click here.
The closing plenary session (see agenda) was all about
LACCIR and its first year achievements, at this time we had the opportunity to
show the LATAM Academic community what we’ve accomplished and what we are
looking forward to do in the next years. Also each LACCIR RFP2007 Winner
Project’s Principal Investigator had some time on stage to present their
projects to the audience.
